Located at the southern tip of Hilton Head Island is Sea Pines Plantation, the oldest and largest planned community on the Island. It has over 5,000 acres and was created in 1957 by Charles Fraser, a pioneer in resort design. Sea Pines Plantation was designed to harmonize architecture with natural surroundings and is a trend setter in the United States for eco-friendly design. Approximately 1,300 acres are devoted to parks, forest preserves, lagoons and marshlands.
