Spanish Wells Plantation is a special place on Hilton Head Island, located on a beautiful peninsula between the waters of Broad Creek and Calibogue Sound. It was named for its artesian wells that the Spanish Armadas used as a fresh water filling station on their ventures. Spanish Wells is known for its privacy and Lowcountry beauty, a community off the beaten track of Hilton Head, yet only three miles from the popular beaches and amenities of the Island. It consists of just 340 acres and approximately 200 homes and enjoys spectacular waterfront views from both sides of the peninsula. Spanish Wells homes are among the most elegant on Hilton Head with many waterfront properties having private deep-water docks with protected waters off the Intracostal Waterway. Home sites are generous for Hilton Head, mostly an acre in size, many with ancient oaks draped with Spanish moss, and spectacular views over the marsh and water.

While Spanish Wells has no security gate at its entrance, it is a private community with amenities reserved for residents and guests only. It includes a private nine-hole golf course and Clubhouse, a Racquet Club with four tennis courts, a swimming complex and a deep-water dock for residents to use for fishing, crabbing, shrimping or just enjoying the view. Although it is situated from the Hilton Head bustle, Spanish Wells is a short drive to beaches, upscale shopping, fine dinning, the island airport, and the hospital and medical complex. For boating enthusiasts, many waterfront properties have deep-water private docks and most with incredible water views of Broad Creek or Calibogue Sound.
