Bloody Point is an area of Daufuskie Island steeped in history. In 1715, the British and the Yemasee Indians fought a bloody battle near the eastern most tip of Daufuskie Island, hence the name Bloody Point was born. Its location offers views of the Atlantic Ocean, Calibogue Sound, Tybee Island and Savannah. Now-a-days, Bloody Point is a renowned golf club and family community, with breath-taking ocean and sound views. Bloody Point has many miles of bike and nature paths and is heavily wooded. As a resort community, it is operated by Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa with their spa services recognized as one of the best in the United States.
Bloody Point is approximately 540 acres and is not at all highly developed. The golf course runs through acres and acres of specimen oaks with almost unobstructed views of the ocean and sound. Bloody Point is home to Sandy Lane, an upscale condominium project with spectacular ocean views. It is a totally unspoiled area, with homes along the water and sprinkled within the wooded community in very low density.
The golf course was designed by Tom Wieskopf and Jay Morrish, and opened in 1991. The Bloody Point golf experience includes winding greens, challenging bunkers, breathtaking views of the Atlantic ocean, dark water lagoons and nearby marshes, natural flora and fauna, visiting wildlife, and the nearby Mungen River. If you love nature, tranquility abundant wildlife and golf - including bald eagles - and beautiful views then you have found it at Bloody Point.
Amenities Bloody Point amenities go beyond the golf course. You can also be active in the Golf Academy of Daufuskie Island, golf clinics and private lessons, tennis and boating and fishing. In addition, since Bloody Point Golf Club is part of the Daufuskie Island Resort and Spa, visiting golfers may also enjoy luxurious accommodations, relaxing spa treatments and deluxe dining. There is plenty of nature watching and if lucky you may get to see a bald eagle and, then of course, you could just sit back and enjoy the beach.
